Green For Maureen: Illinois Green Party Endorses Sullivan
On Thursday, Maureen Sullivan won the endorsement of the Illinois Green Party in her race for Alderman of the 11th Ward.
The Illinois party is affiliated with the Green Party of the United States and is part of the international Green Movement.
“Maureen Sullivan combines a history of advocacy, a passion for her neighborhood, and a track record of getting things done. She is precisely what a member of the Chicago City Council should be!” said Phil Huckelberry, Chair of the Green Party of Chicago.
Sullivan is a three time elected President of the Palmisano Park Advisory Council, a businesswoman and a community activist with a long record of local environmental work including cleaning up litter from 11th Ward streets and helping to close the nearby South Side coal plants. In a statement, she accepted the endorsement. “I am very grateful for the recognition from the Greens. We have committed ourselves to democracy and protecting the environment, and I welcome their vote of confidence, ” she said.
